Student Profile: Shane Sandee
As a first generation college student, Shane Sandee chose Texas State because of scholarships. He chose accounting as his major and was able to intern at the famous Schlitterbahn Waterpark.
“I love to problem solve, and I’m a very analytical thinker,” Shane says.
While in undergrad, Shane was in eight different student organizations. He says he learned more leading organizations than he did just going to classes.
Shane took Bill Poston’s leadership seminar, which ignited his passion for personal development. His biggest takeaway was the “90/10 Priciple,” which states 10% of life is what happens to you and 90% is how you react.
Now Shane is a grad student and working toward his masters. When he starts looking at jobs, he knows he wants a company that aligns with his values.
Similarly, when asked what advice he’d give undergraduates applying for scholarships as he did, Shane recommends finding scholarships you align with. Look through their website and social media to make sure you fit their values.
