Student Spotlight: Joaquin Marquez
Not everyone can say they were a campus celebrity when they attended college. However, through all of his involvement at Texas State University, everyone knows Joaquin Marquez.
“My biggest accomplishment so far in undergrad is being able to balance everything,” Joaquin said. “And not just doing it, but doing it well and succeeding at the same time.”
Joaquin is likely one of the first faces that new students see at Texas State. He is a University Ambassador and gives tours to prospective freshmen during Bobcat Days. Along with this, he teaches sacred bobcat traditions to incoming students during Cat Camp as a Bobcat Connection Team Leader.
Joaquin’s love for Texas State does not stop there. As the Director of the Texas State Loud Crowd, decked out in maroon and gold, he encourages the student section to show their school pride at athletic events.
When Joaquin is not showcasing his love for the university, he can be found working a part-time job and studying. Joaquin is majoring in Animal Science with a Pre-Veterinary Concentration. He had a love for animals since his early days when he helped out on his family’s ranch. He found that the Pre-Veterinary program at Texas State helped prepare him for his future.
“I think that's important being on a pre-health track, making sure that you’re ready for your next steps after undergrad,” said Joaquin. “I feel that TXST is really helping me do that.”
