Student Spotlight: Sophia Kottke

Sophia Kottke is the 2024 recipient of the Thomas Raffen Memorial Scholarship. Sophia is graduating magna cum laude with a dual degree in Anthropology and Biology.

Sophia has overcome many obstacles to even get to Texas State, juggling 3 jobs while in high school to prepare for the financial burdens ahead.

During her time at TXST, she has been a Research Assistant to many professors, studies abroad in Africa and has already been published. She was the President and Founder of the Biological Anthropology Student Organization along with being a member of multiple other organizations.

Sophia is attending Arizona State next year to pursue a PhD, and this scholarship will help her continue her studies.
