Bobcat Bucket List #78: Bring Someone Special to Kissing Alley

Most people don’t think of an alley between bars as romantic, but Kissing Alley in San Marcos is a popular spot for weddings and events. You can find Kissing Alley in between Shade Rooftop Patio Bar and Hub Cyclery on the square.

Right after Valentine’s Day in 2017, the City of San Marcos officially declared Kissing Alley as an official landmark. It started as an unofficial campaign to build a community space downtown. Now, they have regular farm-to-table dinners and weddings. The alley is also a popular place for senior photos.

Unsurprisingly, Kissing Alley is San Marcos’ hub for Valentine’s Day events. In years past, they’ve had free showings of La La Land, photo booths, Galentine’s parties, and live music. There’s a special mailbox where you can send letters addressed to your loved ones. They’re marked with a special stamp that says “Sent from Kissing Alley” before being sent to the Post Office.

With a $5 million budget, the city is continuously improving Kissing Alley. They plan to add seating, lighting and landscaping.

You can visit Kissing Alley at 121 E Hopkins St San Marcos, TX.
