Bobcat Bucket List #79: Watch Live Music at Summer in the Park

Every Thursday during the summer, San Marcos hosts family-friendly concerts in the park. This tradition started in 1987 and has had over 300 concerts over the years.

Produced by the Parks Department and the San Marcos Performing Arts Association, these events are all volunteer-run. The SMPAA also organizes Sights and Sounds of Christmas and various musical productions throughout the year.

Concerts are hosted in the San Marcos Plaza Park from 7:30-9:30pm. Most people bring lawn chairs, picnic blankets and coolers with drinks. There’s usually a booth from the Boy Scouts selling drinks and food as well. Just remember, glass and styrofoam are not permitted in city parks.

Animals are always welcome as long as they are leashed. You can park for free at the San Marcos Lions Club lot, which is a short walk from the park.
