Bobcat Bucket List #77

Bobcat Bucket List #77: Attend a Vocalibre Performance

Recognized as “the face of the music department,” VocaLibre is a group of Texas State University students that aim to share their stories through song. They have an album released and perform throughout the year. Any student at Texas state is welcome to audition.

Vocalibre performs all genres of music including traditional choral music, pop and R&B, renaissance motet, and South African Freedom song. Their goal is to reach audiences through their expression of music. They perform at multiple Texas State University events such as University Pride and Excellence campaigns, Board of Regents Events, convocations and graduations. Additionally, they perform in the San Marcos community and all around Central Texas. Each December, they perform a holiday concert at Horseshoe Bay Resort.

Vocalibre is led by Craig Aamot who joined the Bobcat family in the fall of 2011 as a graduate assistant in choral conducting. By 2013, Aamot was hired as the conductor for VocaLibre and the Texas State Men’s Choir. Aamot has an extensive history in successful choral programs and finds an interest in exploring connections between the choral art, contemplative science, and human experience. His work centers on artistic expression and arts education that engages the mind, body, and spirit. He helps his choirs return to experiences of connection, deep listening, and peace.

If you are wanting to support the arts at Texas State University, look into attending a VocaLibre performance!
