Alumni Profile: Trent + Judy Garmoe
Graduates of the class of 1987, Judy (Kimbrough) and Trent Garmoe reflect fondly and nostalgically on their time and active student life while attending Texas State.
Trent was a president of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, a member of Student Foundation and Order of Omega. He also worked at a local appliance and video store to help pay his way through college. In his free time, he stayed active in campus activities and hanging out with friends.
Judy was in the Delta Gamma sorority, Golden Key and Kappa Delta Pi. She held leadership positions throughout her time at Texas State, but she also kept an active social life. Her favorite spots were the dance club, Strutz, and the Green Parrot.
“Life at Texas State was full of learning and growing,” Judy said. “I just had so much fun.”
"I loved Texas State life, and for me it was filled with fun too like Judy but the difference is ...she graduated with honors," Trent said.
During their nearly 30 years of marriage in San Antonio, Judy and Trent have focused on building their family while trying to balance careers. Judy taught elementary school, then was a stay at home mom with their two sons and now she’s a realtor. She even had a stent of time teaching and training leadership for homeland security.
"Judy has always been the busiest and a most effective person,” Trent said. “It's a full time job to keep our family (OK mostly me) focused, inspired and grounded.”
Trent has worked in the signage industry since leaving Texas State. Like so many things it's enhanced through advancing technologies. More recently his focus is grand format printing equipment.
How have I changed since graduation? “I have less hair now,” Trent said.
