Bobcat Bucket List #98: Skydive San Marcos

San Marcos is home to the highly rated Skydive Spaceland San Marcos, a skydiving and parachute jumping company. This facility is one of the world’s largest training centers that’s been family-owned for three generations.

At the center, you can choose if you want to skydive once or get a license to skydive by yourself in just a week. For first time jumpers, you’ll be paired with a professional and free fall 120 feet out of an airplane. The full fall only lasts about five minutes, and you’ll get to pull your own ripcord.

For thrill seekers wanting to get a license to skydive alone, Skydive Spaceland offers training. You’ll start with tandem skydives, then ground school, then solo training dives. Once you complete 25 jumps, you’re eligible for your license. This license costs a little over $3,000, but it includes lodging while you train.

Skydive Spaceland now has five locations in Texas, and they’ve hosted championships and skydiving records. With their own private airport and airfield, you can feel safe knowing their experts lead over 10,000 trips annually.
