Stelos Stars
What is Stelos Stars?
The Stelos Stars are a group of leaders dedicated to serving their community and supporting student education and leadership through the Stelos Alliance. To become a member, each person must complete our volunteer and donation program. Contributions directly support student leaders at Texas State University and the charity of each individual’s choosing.
What’s required?
The purpose of Stelos Stars is to facilitate campaigns for individuals who want to raise money and volunteer for a cause they care about. This is a high commitment volunteer program, and we want participants who care deeply about making a difference with BOTH fundraising AND volunteering.
Participants will choose ONE charity to volunteer with. Half the funds they raise will go to that charity, and half will go toward the Stelos Alliance.
How to Set up Your Campaign:
You will set up your campaign through our platform on JustGiving. Please include a description of the charity you’ll be volunteering with, how people should donate, and when you plan to complete your program. You must raise a minimum of $200 to qualify as a Stelos Star. Share your campaign on social media and with your friends!
There are two options for participants to complete their volunteering and fundraising efforts.
1. Individuals will pledge to complete a certain amount of hours (set ahead of time), and ask people to donate a certain amount per hour.
For example, Judy pledges to volunteer 5 hours with the food bank. She tells her friends they can donate $10 per hour, which means each person who donates would give $50.
2. Individuals will pledge to volunteer without set hours.
For example, Ryan pledges to purchase needed supplies for the food bank. Friends donate as much as they’d like until Ryan meets his goal.
Suggested Timeline:
We recommend participants complete their volunteering and fundraising in a maximum of 5 weeks. Participants MUST have their fundraisers completed before December 31, 2021 in order to be entered into the Muy’Ono Resorts giveaway.
