Bobcat Bucket List #85

Bobcat Bucket List #85: Buy Local at Art Squared

On the second Saturday of every month from March to December, you can find local art vendors and live music on the square in San Marcos. Accompanied by the Farmers Market, which is held from 9am-1pm just steps away from the Art Squared event, you can expect to leave with many unique souvenirs and a full stomach.

The event is hosted by the oldest arts organization in town, the San Marcos Art League. Art Squared has been held for the last 10 years and has since become a staple for nurturing the arts and bringing the community together.

At the market, you can expect to take home items such as glasswork, woodwork, paintings, sculptures, homemade jewelry, and more. For example, you can browse the succulents and microscapes that Micro.Terra has to offer while snacking on the freeze-dried candy made locally by the Ellington Preserve Company. If you are looking to channel your creativity with no extra cost, you can use and exchange art products at the market as well.

There are many activities for children including a free arts and crafts booth and live art demonstrations. Throughout the year, the market partners with local community organizations to bring special events such as bubble fest, swing on the square, veteran’s day special activities, and a special Christmas themed art market in December.

Visit the Art Squared Market the second Saturday, March through December from 9-4 in the lawn of the courthouse in the historic San Marcos Square.
