Alumni Profile: Cameron Kincaide

As a first grader when asked what he wanted to be when he grows up, Cameron Kincaide said he wanted to work in medical sales. Decades later, Cameron has spent all of his career working in medical device sales and now owns his own company focusing on spinal hardware.

“I grew up around it and always knew I wanted to be in it,” Cameron said. “I had several family members that sold medical devices.”

Cameron and his family

Cameron Kincaide is a true San Antonio local. He was born and raised there, met his wife there, and now lives and runs his business there. Cameron and his wife met at Churchill High School and went to Texas State together, but they didn’t connect and start dating until after college. Now they have a young and growing family together. They are also conveniently located in the same city as both their families and don’t plan on leaving anytime soon.

During his time at Texas State, Cameron was a senator in the Student Government, vice president of finance in Student Foundation, president of Phi Delta Theta, and a Paws Preview leader. Outside of classes, he hung out at the Phi Delta Theta house, played basketball at the rec, and enjoyed going to the square with friends.

“I loved going to Sewell Park, being with friends, and being involved on campus,” Cameron said.

Cameron graduated in 2011 with his Business Management degree. He knew he wanted to go into medical device sales, so he took a position in the warehouse at Stryker until he worked his way up into sales. After years at Stryker, he switched companies to a distributorship for a short time, which then ultimately led to working for a startup. Like many people during COVID, Cameron was furloughed from the startup, but it wasn’t a setback for him.

“I used that as an opportunity to think a little differently and create my own company during COVID,” Cameron said.

River City Spine is a collective group of like-minded sales professionals specializing in medical devices for the spine. After just a few years, Cameron’s company has three partners and six employees. He hopes to continue growing River City Spine and eventually investing in and creating more companies.
