Student Spotlight: Sara Scheidt

Sara Scheidt is this year’s recipient of the Thomas Raffen Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship is in memory of Thomas Raffen, a Texas State student who showed pride and leadership in his community.

“Because of this scholarship, I was able to continue my education at Texas State,” Sara said.

Sara is a junior majoring in Theatre Education with a 4.0 GPA. She is a group leader in the Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship, and she leads a weekly bible study with fifteen women participating. Sara serves as a mentor to the group by having one-on-one meetings or hangouts with each woman once a week, planning community activities and more. Many of the women Sara mentors are now in leadership training to become student leaders next year.

In addition, Sara was one of two Directing Advisors for the James W. Price Ten Minute Play Festival at Texas State University. After she graduates, she plans to create a theater company in the San Marcos area that will provide extensive education programs for the community and TXST students.
