Student Profile: Kenzie Nasser
Kenzie Nasser’s future is wide open at the moment. “I just want to make an impact and be a trailblazer,” she said.
After being orphaned at age 13, Kenzie had to be independent at an early age. This defining experience encouraged her to find support from her uncle and with literature. She’s such an avid reader that she has a tattoo based on Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451, which she says is a synecdoche for her love for all books.
Kenzie has maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout her time at Texas State, earning her a place on the Dean’s list. She’s in the business school majoring in Applied Sociology with a minor in Business Administration. In addition to being a member of the honors groups Alpha Lambda Delta and Alpha Kappa Delta, she works three jobs to pay for college.
Kenzie was in a car accident last year and spent a lot of time at the chiropractor. She got to know the staff and eventually took a job as their assistant. She enjoys working at a place where her values are respected. She spent time as a community assistant at an apartment complex, but left the job due to its unhealthy culture.
Kenzie learned about values and healthy cultures from being a part of Bill Poston’s Housley Leadership seminar.
“I would walk away from each class feeling radiant,” she said.
She stayed as a Teacher’s Assistant for the class of 2020, and eventually became a fellow for Stelos Alliance.
