Student Spotlight: Aidan Brock

Aidan Brock was born and raised in Fort Worth with his mom, dad, and older brother. Aidan’s dad worked in environmental conservation and fish hatcheries, so Aidan found himself spending lots of time on the water with his dad.

“Spending time in nature is a huge part of wellness that is sometimes looked over”

Now in his senior year at Texas State, Aidan has been a swim instructor, a head lifeguard, and a CPR instructor. He is also a peer mentor and just received his certification to be a yoga instructor.

When trying to decide what to do with his future, Aidan began researching different career fields and found a deep interest in psychology. Aidan says he found many similarities between his high school theater experience and the psychology field. He found an interest in analyzing the characters he was portraying on stage.

“Acting is about finding mannerism patterns in characters, that’s what let me to psychology”

Aidan visited Texas State during his junior year in high school. After seeing the campus, it was clear that there was a true sense of community on campus, and the atmosphere was very homey.

“One thing I love about San Marcos is that the people actually care.”

Once coming to TXST, Aidan got involved with the Honors College and lived in Laurel Hall, the Honor’s College living-learning community. As a part of the Honors College, Aidan got involved with the Stelos Alliance and is now a member of the Stelos Scholars. With smaller class sizes, it was easy to feel comfortable, confident, and connected on campus.

“A big motivation of being involved on campus was the Honor’s College.”

After college, Aidan hopes to pursue a master's degree in clinical psychology counseling. Both of Aidan’s parents have master’s degrees, and their support encouraged him to continue on to grad school.
