History of the Scholarship
The Omega Psi Phi Fraternity/Xi Delta Chapter was chartered at SWTSU in September of 1972. While service and social responsibility represents a clear focus of the organization, “Scholarship” is one of the cardinal principles upon which the fraternity was founded. It is part of our mission to help provide a path for students to receive an education at Texas State University.
The Xi Delta Alumni Foundation scholarship currently planned at $2,500, will be awarded for the first time in Spring 2026. It will be awarded annually and funded by the Xi Delta Alumni Foundation members from designated donations to Stelos Alliance.
· The applicant must be enrolled in 12 hours or more at the time of selection and considered a full-time student.
· Students must have an overall Texas State University GPA of at least 2.75.
· Preference for a student with a high financial need.
· The recipient(s) will be in good standing with the University during selection.
· Students must complete the entire application process by the due date.
· As part of the application process, a 250–500-word explanation of why this scholarship is important to the student is required.
· Essay prompt: Tell us about a challenge or circumstance that has significantly shaped your path — whether that’s being the first in your family to attend college, working to support yourself while pursuing your education, growing up in a single-parent household, or another experience that has defined your journey. How has this shaped your goals, values, and the person you are today? What drives you to keep going when things get hard.
The Scholarship shall be presented annually at the Stelos Alliance Scholarship Awards Banquet. The time and place are to be determined by Stelos Alliance but will be in San Marcos, TX.
Beginning in 2026, Clinton B. Morris will fund a $4,000 annual scholarship for the next five years recognizing an outstanding senior in the Texas State Construction Science & Management Program. The award honors a graduating senior with strong potential in the construction industry.
In 2026, friends, family, and alumni partnered with the Stelos Alliance to establish a scholarship for the Eta Rho Chapter of Pi Kappa Phi, recognizing undergraduate brothers who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, and pride in their chapter and Texas State University.
The Bustillos Mariachi Excellence Awards, established in 2025 by Sheila Bustillos, Ph.D. to provide two $500 annual scholarships to help Texas State students pursue their goals without financial barriers.
