Lumberton HS Endeavor Scholarship

History of the Scholarship

In 2017, Lumberton High School alumni Matthew Gray and Matthew Priest met to discuss ways to give back to the various communities that have made them successful professionals.  Lumberton High School was one of the first of these communities for the various roles and responsibilities it allowed both individuals to undertake, not only as students but also through athletics and student organizations.  As such, Mr. Gray and Mr. Priest decided to launch The LHS Endeavor Scholarship and award the first scholarship in the amount of $5,000 at the 2018 Lumberton High School Senior Awards night.

Eligibility Requirements
  • Must be a prospective graduating senior from Lumberton High School in good standing

  • Student plans to attend a four-year university outside of Hardin and Jefferson counties

  • Funds will be distributed upon providing proof of full-time enrollment (12+ credit hours)

  • Student must have an intrinsic desire to pursue a college degree post-graduation from Lumberton High School and begin a journey of continuous improvement through learning and experiencing

  • Student must contribute a substantial amount of service to Lumberton High School, above beyond that required or expected of a typical student

  • Student must demonstrate a high quality of character and leadership

  • An overall grade point average of 3.0 or better at the time of the application

Application Process

An application will be available each year in the Lumberton High School counselor’s office.  Application will be made available no later than ten (10) weeks prior to the Senior Award Night.

All applications shall be due in person to the LHS Counselor’s office no later than two (2) weeks prior to the Senior Award Night.  LHS Counselor’s Office will gather applications to be either scanned or picked up in person by a member of the selection committee.
