Bustillos Mariachi Excellence Award
History of the Scholarship
Sheila Bustillos, Ph.D. is a two-time Texas State University graduate (’05 & ’08), former Texas State staff, and a former board member on the Texas State Alumni Association board. She is a first-generation Tejana who understands the struggles students go through to afford college and to follow their dreams. Sheila worked 25 hours a week while going to school and trying to maintain a position on the Texas State Volleyball team. She hopes this scholarship will allow students to pursue their goals with some financial reprieve so quitting is never an option.
