Take the elevator up to the 7th floor in Alkek Library and you’ll run into the Wittliff Collection. Thousands of students, staff and visitors come to see this unique collection of artifacts.
Southwestern & Mexican Photography Exhibit
“Founded by Austin screenwriter and photographer Bill Wittliff and his wife, Sally, our mission is to collect, preserve and share the artistic process that springs from the Southwestern imagination”
The Wittliff Collection is a permanent staple on campus and has been since 1986. The collections include Southwestern Writers, Southwestern & Mexican Photography, Texas Music, and items from the beloved television series, Lonesome Dove.
Some interesting items at the Wittliff include Willie Nelson’s songbook from when he was 10 years old, interviews and photographs from international pop-star Selena, and full outfits from Lonesome Dove.
