Bobcat Bucket List #96

Bobcat Bucket List #96: Wear Your Maroon and Gold for Spirit Fridays

Texas State University has a long list of traditions, and one new addition is “Spirit Friday.” This day was created over five years ago with the intent of encouraging student participation in showcasing their Bobcat pride.

The idea behind “Spirit Friday” is for students and staff to flood the campus in a sea of maroon and gold if they find themselves there on a Friday. Participants are also encouraged to share their pictures to social media with hashtags such as #TXST or #EatEmUpCats to increase the involvement in the tradition.

Many students who participate in this spirit day think it’s a great way to show their Bobcat pride. It’s a simple way to show visible support to their school and can help represent the organizations or teams that individual students are involved in. The hope is that this will become a long-time tradition that leads a united community.

If you happen to need a Texas State shirt to wear on Spirit Friday, there is an annual “Trade-Up” event where students can trade in any shirt from another university in return for a free TXST shirt. There are also many organizations that participate in tabling events on-campus throughout the year with free shirts.

Pull out your favorite maroon or gold TXST shirt to participate in the next Spirit Friday!
