Bobcat Bucket List #59: Visit the MakerSpace

Creativity is right at your fingertips in Texas State’s new MakerSpace. Located on the first floor of the Alkek Library, the MakerSpace has 3d printers, embroidery machines, laser cutters, and more.

This space is free for students to use after they’ve completed 1x1 training to use the various machines. Students can also access template files and attend workshops to improve their skills. The only cost is for materials, which students can bring or purchase. Student can sign up for training here.

There’s a full list of available machines on the library’s website, but some categories include woodworking, cutting different materials, fiber arts, and painting. They’re known for their special water jet that can cut any material.

The MakerSpace’s hours are 8am-10:30pm Monday-Thursday. While only students have free access to the space, visitors are free to tour and watch the 3d printers in progress.
