Student Profile: Jon'Dasha Price
There was never a dull moment at Jon’Dasha Price’s house growing up. She was adopted when she was two and lived alongside nine other children in the foster care system. While the house could be chaotic at times, Jon’Dasha is thankful for her mother who always put them first.
“She’d go to the store and get something for everyone,” Jon’Dasha said.
Jon’Dasha’s mom had a huge impact on her life. She was always making a difference, whether it was taking in foster care children or starting a non-profit that supports young mothers.
“I really do thank my mom for that,” Jon’Dasha said. “Showing me how to care for others.”
Jon’Dasha wants to use the privilege she has because many children in the system don’t get adopted. She’s studying to be a lawyer with a long-term goal to open up a law firm and mentor children in foster care.
“Kids just need someone who’s looking out for them,” she said.
When Jon’Dasha first came to Texas State, she had a hard time making friends. She didn’t get along with her roommate and went home every weekend.
She nervously applied for the Stelos Scholars program and by the second day, she had best friends.
“Thanks Stelos,” Jon’Dasha said. “I have friends now.”
Since then, she’s gotten involved in a pre-law fraternity and continues to be involved in Stelos Scholars and the Honors College.
“Texas State helped me open up as a person,” Jon’Dasha said.
