A self proclaimed extrovert and team player, Aja Shoates is focused on working in a business that uplifts female leaders. Aja is a junior majoring in Business Administration Management, and she’s currently interning with two different companies.

“It feels powerful to be around aspiring women,” Aja said.

Aja grew up as an only child in Fort Worth, Texas. She thinks that’s why she’s always been so sociable and ready to jump into activities. In high school, she played volleyball and realized being on a team was good for her growth.

“I learned how to get close to people even when there’s a job to get done,” she said.

When Aja was ready to go to college, Texas State was the easy choice because of location and affordability. She toured and fell in love with the inclusivity and environment.

“This was the only school in Texas I was really interested in,” Aja said. “It’s where I could go to be me.”

Aja is a recent member of the Texas State Honors College, and she is interning with The Launch Box and Charles Schwab. She loves doing charitable operations at Charles Schwab and giving back to where she came from.

“I feel amazing about this position,” Aja said. “I proved to myself that you don’t have to have big money to give back.”
