The permanently closed Pepper’s at the Falls restaurant now only exists as an archived Facebook page and an empty building. While you can’t eat at Pepper’s anymore, there are hundreds of fans and former employees who’d still call this place a staple for Texas State.

Facebook group members try to recall names of old menu items like the Blazing Saddles burger, spiced fries and the Atomic Bomb. Former employees remember fishing off the back dock after their shifts and running through the restaurant to jump over the falls.

“Loved my time that I worked there,” Trayce J commented. “Made many memories and enduring friendships!”

People still go out to jump over the falls near the old restaurant, but beware you may be fined for doing so.

The restaurant was located on the historical San Marcos Mill Tract land, designated by the Historical Commission in the 1800’s. A man named Edward Burelson built the dam that powered a saw mill, cotton gin, ice houses, and finally Pepper’s at the Falls.

Now, Kerby Lane Cafe is remodeling and will take over the place where Pepper’s used the stand on 221 E Sessom Dr.
