Bobcat Bucket List #20
Bobcat Bucket List #20 : Rub The Stallions for Luck before Exams
Many universities have a pre-exam ritual.
Indiana University’s is to shake Herman Melville’s hand, Yale’s is to rub Theodore Dwight Woolsey’s toe, but Texas State’s is to rub the balls on the Fighting Stallions statue. This strange, intimate tradition has been going on for decades.
The Fighting Stallions statue is located on the west end of the Quad in the plaza between Derrick Hall and Evans Liberal Arts Building.
The 17-foot-high sculpture was a 1951 gift from noted sculptor Anna Hyatt Huntington and husband Archer Huntington of South Carolina.
