Bobcat Bucket List #84: Have a Showdown Bloody Mary
Showdown is a dive bar located just off the square downtown San Marcos. Dubbed as a western saloon, Showdown is filled with vintage decor and is a staple for those wanting a chill environment to eat and drink.
Established in 1977 by Eddie Mack, Showdown has always been famous for their Bloody Marys. The drinks are cheap, strong, and topped with lots of olives. In the 2010’s, locals called Showdown the “hipster bar” as young people flocked there to buy Bloody Marys. It’s still seen as a “local, cultural treasure,” by Texas State alumni and San Marcos locals.
Showdown has a variety of old school games including pinball, foosball, and pool. After you play, try their western style food like their Showdown Chili or Jalapeño Popper Burger.
The bar is wheelchair accessible and has 4.6/5 stars on Google. Go visit this historical dive bar, and check it off your Bobcat Bucket List!
