Bobcat Bucket List #13 : Visit the Fish Hatcheries

This Bobcat Bucket List item is special because it has TWO different places you can visit : the Old Fish Hatchery building and the new A.E. Wood Fish Hatchery.

Now an event space, the Old Fish Hatchery was built in 1895 and raised Black Bass, Bluegill and Catfish until it was gifted to Texas State in 1965. The historical site was restored and has many of the same original doors and windows from the 1800’s.

While this facility doesn’t raise fish anymore, a new location was built off campus. You can tour the new fish hatchery on Tuesdays and Fridays. Find more information on tours here.
