Alumni Profile: Trevor Reisz
Trevor Reisz grew up in Katy, Texas, in a family deeply rooted in construction—his grandfather owned a construction business, and his dad worked in construction sales. By junior year of high school, Trevor’s interest in project management grew as a way to combine his leadership skills with his passion for building. When he discovered Texas State’s Construction Industry Management (CIM) program—one of only five in the nation—he knew it was the perfect fit.
Trevor looks back on his time at Texas State with great appreciation—from days at the river to engaging classes and industry connections. As a member of the Construction Student Association, he gained valuable insights and built lasting relationships. However, his favorite experience was the concrete mix design labs, where he experimented with his own mixtures and brought projects to life, reinforcing his passion for the field.
During his senior year, Trevor interned with CEMEX in New Braunfels, working in quality control. There, he gained hands-on experience with material processing, further reinforcing his passion for construction.
After graduating from Texas State with a Bachelor of Science in Construction Industry Management, Trevor accepted a job with Suntec and moved to Phoenix, Arizona. He first interned with the company getting lots of hands on experience on how jobs sites ran. He then was promoted to project engineer and then within nine months he advanced to assistant project manager.
By June 2022, just a year after graduating, Trevor reached his goal and was promoted to a project manager. His first major project was overseeing a 1.3 million square foot high rise in downtown Phoenix. Now, as of July 2024, he has taken on a new challenge in Boise, Idaho.
For Trevor the most rewarding part of his job is reviewing plans and watching them come to fruition. Reflecting on his journey, Trevor shares a powerful piece of advice:
“ It doesn't matter where you start; always keep your eyes on where you want to be. Have an open mind, always ask questions, and don't be afraid of failure.”
These words are what helped propel him forward and continue to shape his career.
Looking forward, Trevor has the aspirations of becoming an executive within the next decade. While he has considered running his own business unit, his primary goal is to lead and innovate within the construction industry.
